I'm happy to say it was as good as the first book in the series. But he also has to do his job as a cop and stop a serial killer. Mac has to decide very carefully what he really wants, he has to decide if he loves Tony enough, he has to decide if their relationship is more important than being safe in the closet. Tony can’t hide anymore, he can’t lie anymore, he wants all or nothing. I want to leave the kids with a sitter and go to a movie with you, and kiss the shit out of you on the street after the show because it was just so romantic. I want you standing up for the next poor tranny who gets a knife waved in his face, and no one wondering why. I want you and me and Ben and Anna, and a little house, and a fucking white picket fence, and me bitching to the kids because you’re late for dinner again. Being Mac’s dirty secret is not enough anymore. He loves Mac, but he secretly wants more. He never felt for someone what he feels for Mac. Tony is certain that Mac is as deeply in their relationship as he is. They spend all their free time together at Tony’s apartment, Tony being there for Mac whenever he needs someone to talk to about his job or something else. Their relationship progresses normally despite the fact that Mac is still in the closet. Six months had passed since Tony and Mac decided they want to be together as a couple. “Breaking Cover” is the second book in Kaje Harper’s Life "Lessons Series". I also post free short YA stories on that group, more than 50 of them so far. You can find me and my book reviews on my author page here on Goodreads - I hang out on Goodreads a lot because I moderate the Goodreads YA LGBT Books group.

I now have a good-sized backlist in ebooks and print, both free and professionally published.

I was delighted and encouraged by the reception Mac and Tony received. I have a weakness for closeted cops with honest hearts, and teachers who speak their minds, and I had fun writing four novels and three freebie short stories in that series. My first professionally published book, Life Lessons, came out from MLR Press in May 2011. My husband finally convinced me that after all the years of writing for fun, I really should submit something, somewhere. I’ve been writing far longer than I care to admit (*whispers – fifty years*), mostly for my own entertainment, usually M/M romance (with added mystery, fantasy, historical, SciFi…) I also have a few Young Adult stories (some released under the pen name Kira Harp.) Minnesota’s a kind, quiet (if sometimes chilly) place and it’s home. I was born in Montreal but have lived for 30 years in Minnesota, where the two seasons are Snow-removal and Road-repair, where the mosquito is the state bird, and where winter can be breathtakingly beautiful. “Kaje” is pronounced just like “cage” – it’s an old nickname, and my pronouns are she/her/hers.
